Requirements for LCV drivers
If you drive goods for payment that weigh more than 11 kg. per piece of general cargo in a light commercial vehicle or articulated vehicle (goods vehicle + trailer) over 2,000 kg. you must have a light commercial vehicle driver training certificate (varebilschauf-føruddannelsesbevis (VUB).
How do I get a certificate?
To get a light commercial vehicle driver certificate (VUB) you must complete a basic qualification course or a top-up (efteruddannelse) course as an LCV driver. The aim of the course is to ensure that you have the necessary qualifications as a driver.
The basic training course is for drivers who have driven goods vehicles for less than two years. The course takes three days.
The top-up training course (efteruddanelsen) is for drivers with more than two years’ experience and takes two days.
In general, the certificate is valid for five years. After this, if you wish to retain your LCV driver’s certificate you will need to complete a 2-day refresher course.
